not really a policy per-se, but when i went to return something at best buy the other day, i asked where the return desk was, and they put a sticker on my thing. i was kinda confused, but just went along with it

any other stores that have weird policies or tactics like this? just curious

It isn't a tactic, it is just so that they know you came into the store with that box and didn't just grab it on the way to the return counter.

Edit: Assuming that by putting a sticker on "your thing" you meant the box you were carrying, and not an appendage of yours. Which would indeed be a weird policy.

thats not wierd. they do that so you don't go in the store and just pick up an XBox and then go to the return counter and tell them you want to return it, then they tell you you don't have a receipt, and you say oh yea i forgot it, and then you walk out the front door with the xbox.

with the purple sticker on it, they know that you brought it in the store, so you can walk out with it.
