Interesting reformatting question: Win updates before or after?

Time to wipe this sucka down. I need some opinions though.

For some reason I thought the best plan is to RF, reinstall WinXP (Pro), and then get updates before installing the rest of my programs/hardware. My logic was that the updates were less likely to cause problems with already installed stuff if they came in before it. Does that make sense? Does it even matter?

Then I'm wondering about hardware vs. software. All hardware install, then updates, then software? All updates, then etc.?

Anyone have any opinions on the best order?

Thanks

That makes sense to me. I'd say all hardware, all updates, then software. To make it simpler, try using nLite to slipstream whatever updates you need onto your WinXP install CD.
