Interesting read for those wanting a DVD burner...

I read the intro info and the the conclusion. Good info on the history but the cliff notes are as such:

In conclusion, there isn't a dominating standard in the US though DVD-R players nicer with older DVD players.

I want to copy off all my home video stuff (VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, miniDV) to DVD. I just don't trust tape.

Bought a DVD+R/RW recently and burned a DVD+RW but my JVC 7-disc changer doesn't recognize it...bummer.

Which brand/model conjur?

The JVC? It's the...uh...XV-FA85GD

The burner is the cendyne 4x DVD+R/RW that was in Hot Deals about 2 mos. ago or so

I got a Dual Format burner cuz I really didn't know which one was better, I should have just got the DVD-RW drive because -R media works in all my dvd players and would have saved me 70 bucks.

Just use a regular DVD+R. I know one of my DVD players doesn't play DVD+RW but it plays DVD+Rs fine.

I got a DVD+RW burner and my RCA DVD player doesn't read them but my Sony does. Oh well....

I have RCA and dont have any problems with DVD+R discs. What kind of software did you use to burn them?

Sorry conjur, I should have been more specific, I wanted to know what burner you had and wanted to be sure it wasn't the same one I have as all the DVD players in my house are quite old 😱

DVD X Copy

Try Nero or Instant Copy and see if that changes anything. In any case you can use the +R with the sony so you have nothing to lose.

Well actually I used DVD Decrypter to burn a dvd and it played on my RCA. But the only problem is you can only use DVD Decryper to copy single layer dvds. Dual layer is much harder to copy and DVD X Copy does it all for me and I'm lazy so that's what I use.... lol.
