Washington Times Story.

...""The Democrats ran away from gun safety in the 2002 elections, and look where it got them," Mr. Rummel said. "Whoever is advising them on gun control should be shot." ...

Gun control has been a losing issue for Democrats, spare of a handful in leftwing bastions, for more than a few years now.

Only a few short years after Mayor Webb appointed himself leader of some 'moral majority' by telling the NRA they were not welcome in Denver shortly after the Columbine shooting, an NRA-backed bill effectively making Colorado a 'shall issue' CCW state passed the Colorado legislature with broad bipartisan and public support, and was signed by Governor Owens. Of course, Mayor Webb pledged to fight the implementation of this new law in court, underscoring that its Mayor Webb and his gun-controlling pals who are really out of touch with the people of Colorado, not the NRA.

Michael Moore similarly appointed himself to represent the people of Flint, in his ever-amusing delusion that he speaks for his home town, by telling the NRA they were not wanted in Flint when the NRA scheduled an election rally there. More than 4000 people crowded into the IMA Sports Arena in support of the NRA while the opposition mustered barely a dozen protestors outside. So much for Michael Moore's delusion of speaking for the home town crowd...

You love Micheal Moore huh TC? I think every post you make has a reference to him gun related or not.:p

One thing about this atricle I find disturbing..."The president has announced that he supports the assault ban, and it would be helpful if he used his good offices to do that," Mrs. Pelosi said at her last weekly press briefing before the Memorial Day recess.

WTH I though just last year he and Ashcroft said they support the second amedment and even wrote a brief to the SC indicating thier position?

Well, there is a moderate approach to which GWB and Ashcroft have given lip service, and that approach goes something like this:

"While the Federal Constitution's Second Amendment vigorously protects the individual's right to keep and bear arms, it does not pose a barrier to 'reasonable' regulation or restriction, just as all constitutional rights are subject to reasonable regulation and restriction."

The assault weapons ban of 1994 can then be said to be a 'reasonable' restriction of the individual's Second Amendment's rights, along with background checks. The point of contention then becomes what constitutes "reasonable".

Here are several more interesting articles and editorials:

Maybe reasonable..but ultimately pointless. I am sure the lack of collapsible stocks, bayonet lugs, and high capacity magazines are saving lives every day. The fact that a fifteen round glock magazine is approaching $100 dollars for legitimate users is I am sure putting a huge dent in crime.

I hope that was sarcasm. Or at the minimum, that the "bayonet lug" part was sarcasm. I would be highly interested to know when the last time someone in the USA was bayoneted to death by an AK47 or any of its variants.
