:) Hello all. Has anyone come across the following: Am attempting to add an additional USB Western Digital 320GB external hard drive to my current MS Windows XP system (already have a Western Digital 120GB external hard drive attached), but when I power up the system I get a blue screen telling me that Windows has halted and there is a problem with the setup. When I unplug the new drive, the computer operates normally. Have tested the new drive on my backup computer and it works fine. What am I missing? Should I upgrade to MS Windows XP SP2? Can MS Windows XP support only one USB external drive? Am running the connection off a 4-port USB PCI card with 1) USB Modem, 2) First WD external drive, 3) Lexmark printer, and 4) New WD external drive. Can anyone provide assistance? Thx.

(1) Yes, you should update your XP to SP2 right away ... you can do this for free using Windows update.

(2) Running SP1 (I assume you at least have SP1?) shouldn't be causing your problem though ... have you tried not plugging in the second external drive until after XP loads?

Debug the blue screen dump. See my .sig and my web page for full details. Post the output of !analyze -v in a msg to us here when you get the debugger set up.

BTW, yes, you need to upgrade to XP SP2 and all Windows updates, then do the debug stuff - in other words, upgrade NOW with ALL offered MS updates, then see if this even keeps happening.
