Interesting Question: Are there any AT (yes AT) motherboards that supports Pentium III 700 mhz (100 Mhz FSB)

Are there any AT (yes AT) motherboards that supports Pentium III 700 mhz (100 Mhz FSB)?

I'm asking b/c I have this fileserver case that I would like to utilize but the fileserver case accepts only AT motherboards. It wasn't designed to allow different backplates to be used. Ideally, an AT motherboard what has AT/ATX power connectors so I can still use ATX power supplies.

Any input would be useful.

Doubtful. Even if there was, it would be a specialty part and probably more expensive than a new ATX case. Sorry.

Actually, I found a few motherboards already with BIOS support for the CPU that I mentioned .. my only problem now is trying to find them ..

For those that may even be interested, here's the list I found:
1. Gigabyte GA-6BA rev3.0 or greater. Link Here
2. Tyan Tsunami S1830 Link Here
3. Asus P2B-B

If there isn't a backplate for ATX, take a Dremel to it.

I did this with a Supermicro case, nice thick steel, but only took my 30 mins to get though it, and was still using that old AT case with my Tbird and Abit KT7 (until I upgraded last year)

Confused

I'm hoping that to be my last option b/c I do know that these motherboards are still out there ... are there any others that I failed to mention?

I installed a baby EPOX dual AT/ATX power in my wife's system. I had to use the dremmel because I wanted to replace the PS with an ATX one, but otherwise it would have dropped in just fine. It is running a 1.1 pentium. I think it is a EP-3VWB+. I got it at newegg a year or so ago.

here

Because I replaced the AT PS with an ATX, I also had to replace the power switch. Frys carries them.

I have an abandoned bastard of a motherboard, a PC Chips M729MRT Bxcel board, which can support an AT or an ATX power supply. It can also support both an S370 cpu (up to 533) and a Slot 1 (currently a C566@850). I had it apart today to put a newer video card in it in fact. PCChips has never been known for ANY performance (other than poor) but this board is rock stable and serves me well as a third PC tucked away in the basement.

Hey, I've actually worked on one of those like 6 months ago. Very strange setup for sure. Too bad it fried or I might have still had it around ( built him a new system).

Gigabyte had the GA-6VA7+ and Soltek had the SL-63AV+, both were virtually identical in features.

- Baby AT
- VIA Apollo Pro
- S370 PIII/Celeron 'Coppermine' Support up ~1GHz
- PC100/133 SDRAM

I've used a few of the Soltek boards for AT upgrades. I had the Gigabyte boards on backorder for two weeks but nobody could tell me when they would be in again so I canceled and ordered the Solteks. My sister is currently using one with a 733PIII but the primary IDE channel is dead.

The problem is not whether these boards were ever available but if you can still find any.

Exactly what I just picked up from here in the AT forums .. thanks for all your inputs on this. 🙂

Johnny, if you have any problems running this board, lemme know ! If you use W2K with it, there's an issue with the IDE controllers not running in UDMA mode. I can send you the links and forum disscussion on solving this. GL
