"interesting problem" w/ audio

Recently got the labtec Z560 speakers, and I have a creative labs PCI512 sound card. I have an interesting "problem". I was listening to an audio cd, and when playing the cd from the cd player (pressing play on drive) the sound pans from right to left on a track. when I play the CD from Windows media player, the sound pans from left to right. I would have tested on the windows CD player thingy, but it didn't work (probably due to WinXP). Any suggestions?

the CD player is probably sending out an analog signal over a 4 pin cable connected to your sound card... check and see if it is reversed... I'm guessing that when you use Media Player it is reading the music as digital and playing it back over the "wav" sound card channel (as seen on the audio mixer)

Yes! that worked! I was a little leary about changing around the cables, because on of my good friends fried his computer when he installed his new cd burner. he took what he thought was the audio cable from the old cd drive and put it in the new drive, which promptly fried his computer after he powered it on. He traced the cord back to the power supply! But it did nothing while it was in his old drive! pretty strange. Anyway, thanks for the solution!
