It was a nice afternoon, just a few little whisps of clouds high in the air....

One of them however, had a rainbowish glow to it, i am assuming reflecting off the ice crystals?

I apologize for the bad pic, all i had with me was my camera phone, but on the cloud to the right of the sun you can see what i was talking about....

Dude. It's lens flare.

What camera do you have that shut down the pixels that got overexposed by the sun? That's friggin lame.

Did you read my post at all? It was a camera phone.

Also, im not talking about the lens flare. Im talking about the cloud just inside it that is very bright. It had a rainbow glow to it.

Sorry, missed the camera phone part. I was gonna lay into you for having a crap camera. 😉

And the chromatic aberration from the cloud isn't. It's the cheapie sensor on that camera phone. The individual sensors on the CCD are bleeding into each other. Combined with the crap lens you get what you're seeing.

And that lens flare is still horrible. <shudders>

I was just bitching to myself about my camera showing grain in low-light. LoL!

Yep, thats what it was... thanks 🙂

Yes, the ice crystals 20,000+ feet up in the atmosphere are creating the rainbow. It usually is a sign of a coming storm.
