Last year when I finally got my NF7-S v2 and 2500+ mobile barton @ 2.4ghz, the speed was incredible.
After the initial POST screen, I only saw a glimpse of the WinXP Bootscreen (the blue bar didn't even scroll) before it loaded into Windows.

When I switched over to P4 @ 3.3ghz, the Blue Scrolly Bar would scroll over 7 times before it would enter Windows. Why such lag? I've had shorter boottimes w/ a P3.

Interestingly, switching the mobile barton w/ a Duron 1.6 yielded 1/2 a scroll before it would enter Windows.

Both AMD and P4 Systems had the same components, just different CPU and Motherboard.

i've noticed that too at times with different components and different o/s's

i found that i could make my windows2000 load almost 30 seconds faster just by disconnecting my cdrw...

it might just be an oddity...

Some general tips for faster boots:

1. Install fewer fonts/remove unused ones
2. Use "simpler" drivers
3. Delete .sys files for old drivers

But all this is on fresh reinstall. Acutally, after installing all my proggies and having a cluttered system, the AMD rig still booted w/ no scrolly
