Wow. The new Eclipse gets absolutely sh!t gas mileage for its size and performance. My modded WRX with 4 doors is pushing roughly 60 more hp and is AWD and averages 22 in the city and 26 on the highway.

Oh, and these "useless" cars... you guys have heard of track days, right?

Anything is more rewarding to drive than a fullsize SUV...like that needed to be said.

So now we're cheering over 1/5th of a mile per gallon? Half a mile on average? This thing can go what, 700-2500 *feet* further and that's cause for celebration?

Nonsense. When these cars *routinely* get 40+ miles per gallon, *that* will be cause for celebration. These cars, both, are gas pigs.

Jason

the GT makes double the horsepower yet gets nearly as good of mileage, that's the point. way to read.

Do you understand what the Ford GT is?

Yes, it's an overpriced, overpowered gas hog that serves no legitimate purpose whatsoever. There isn't a highway on this *continent* where you can legally drive that car at it's top speed. It's a pointless WASTE.

Jason

McLaren F1
Ferrari Enzo
Ferrari F40
Ferrari F50
Lamborghini Murceilago
Lamborghini Gallardo
McLaren-Mercedes SLR
Porsche Carrera GT
Porsche 911 Turbo

All pointless?

Yes, each and every one of them are *pointless*, overpriced, and more likely than not, gas hogs :)

When we've got an Audubon on which to run these cars at their full speed, then we'll talk.

Jason

WTF is an Audubon?

This is proof that Americans generally think fast = straight line.

Somewhere, in some forest, a tree is being neglected of a hug.

Seriously, some people enjoy driving sporty cars that accelerate nicely and handle well. I drive a Saturn to work everyday and get about 30 mpg, then I also have a 300ZX twin turbo that I drive for enjoyment. I race it at the dragstrip and at I raced it at Watkins Glen a couple months ago. It's not a waste, it's a lot of fun. It's my money, it's my choice.

...and the pussification of America continues at breakneck speed until the nannies have locked us all in padded rooms for our own good.

My 4300 LB Pilot does way better than those two, and it pushes a ton of air and has a ton of under-air, the worst shiz for gas mileage. The worst we got on break-in was 17:)
