Interesting new SATA cable assembly

I hope I'm not just the last to stick his head out of the cave on this one. But if I am, nevermind...

I was at Newegg ordering a new HDD and decided to check out the SATA cables while I was there. I found this SATA drive and power cable unit that looks like it would help with the known SATA cable problems of falling off or breaking the data connector clean off of the drive (is that a problem with the SATA power connector on the drives too - IDK as I haven't had to use a SATA power connector yet and I may just tie that part of it out of the way or even cut it off as all I really want from it is the extra support for the data connection). It doesn't seem to offer anything new on the mobo end. And the connectors on my mobo are weak ones too. But I've been using a dab of hot-glue to hold those in place so falling off is not a problem there.

SATA data/power cable assembly a quick tour verified that most of our favorite resellers have them now and they are all selling them for around $4.00.

I hope at least some find this useful. Enjoy!

SATA data cables don't fall off once you use the refined ones as defined in the SATA-2 standard. They have retention clamps.

I have been ordering the Gear brand stuff from pcmicrostore. They have been sending me some nice SATA II cables!

Just going to mention for everyone to definitely make sure your power supply included a SATA power cable with it, if not get yourself an adapter before you forget it (DVD R's use SATA power on em.)
