Musolinni was onre of the few leaders in Europe that wan't to use force to remove Hitler from the Rhineland when he annexed it.

Mussolini was never "fighting the good fight". It was just political maneuverings the year before they signed thier pact.

From what I have read, Mussolini was always apprehensive about any sort or friendship with Hitler. But in the end, Germany was many times more powerful the poor agricultural country of Italy in the 30s and 40s.

Great report.

I'm extremely interested in the Vatican documents and archives from 1940-1945. Some reputations will undoubtedly deflate once the historians grab hold of those papers.
