Seeing the thread about MMMMMMM or whatever made me think of this.

I went to dinner with a friend who graduated in December and has been up in the DC area working as a paralegal for the NRA. He sold his car and picked up a 93 Miata and got a vanity plate for it. MnMMnMM is what it reads (lower case 'n' for effect). I couldn't figure out why get got it, so I had to ask. He says try saying that in a chopper over a radio to a chase car on the ground. I was ROFL. Makin it hard for smokey in the sky to get his arse.

Of course, the whole bright blue Miata makes it somewhat easier to get him. Smokey's trying to radio down.. "Pull over MMNM.. er.. MNMNM.. umm.. Get the bright blue Miata!" Or any cops sayin the plate number over a Motorola really.

It'd work wonders on a more discrete Camry, Accord, or Civic, with tons of them on the road.

Yea, there's lots of interesting ones.

2PHCD4U is my favorite. If I ever get a flashy car, I'm gunna try to sneak it by the 'language filters' at the DOT/DMV/MVA.

lmao also i've seen a good one, in ct this used to work we'd see kxk or kkx or xxk and uppercase letters are pretty tuff, imagine being the chopper pilot "plates are kkk no kxk no xkk, no TREE" i've also thought of rigging a little elctric motor with like a flap that hides the plates, also dont they have guns(special liscence plate ones)?? and my new plate in CT has hologrpahic stuff on it, whats to keep them from having non visible infrared bar codes they can read with their radar guns

better yet, if you can use upper and lower case, mix a bunch of lower case 'l's and upper case 'i's, and watch them try to look up your license plate in the database.

The holographic stuff is just to make them harder to counterfit <sp>. I don't think it has anything to do with laser return.

Now that would be interesting. Bar code on the plate. Set laser guns aiming at each lane on an overpass. Clock everyone going thru. Record the plate number, deduct fine electronically from your bank account. 100% automated. Sounds somewhat feasible. Technology sucks.
