Interesting dialog between Bill Maher and Jordan Peterson in part on the difference between liberalism and wokeness not being the same thing.....

Pretty long for most here I suspect but the section i mentioned in the thread title I found pretty interesting. I have suggested we have an authoritarian problem on the left that liberals are ignoring including Trump derangement syndrome, race at the center of everything, fear driven climate attitudes, to mention a few examples.

I especially found the dark triad of psychopathy to be on the mark. Of course neither of them realize the root of the problem as self hate but they come close to it.

There is no comparison. One Party keeps passing Authoritarian Laws, the other doesn't.

Can you break this down a bit? Not about to watch 1.25 hours to get to the point.
I also havent watched it but I expect it to be along the lines of -
Bill Maher - "I'm a rich fake leftist and I always agree with conservatives."
Jordan Peterson - "I'm a fake tough guy who cries because people are mean to me for misrepresenting my credentials and everything is lobsters."
Bill Maher - "Wow, that's amazing."

Just checked it a bit but can't make it past Jordan's lies at 9 min.
Fuck that shithead and Maher for laughing along.
Good idea to stop watching. They are talking about how easily the woke gen is triggered. Probably you are young though it's not mandatory. Every generation has it's spoiled children. You went in with a load of cabbage so high you couldn't see anything. You have to have an appetite for diverse opinions and be willing to be open to unusual information. Plenty of things to watch with confirmational bias galore.

Im a half hour in and the dark triad have been covered.

This is so dumb. Not the podcast, its actually quite entertaining, but the concept that this is a problem on the left. Its a logical fallacy, sorry moonie, I dont know how you inferred this conclusion other than the fact that Peterson said it is so.

Postulate(my): Clinical psychopathy dont reside anywhere on the political spectrum.

The argument Peterson is making is that online psychopath trolls masquerade as leftist cause compassion is the ultimate camouflage.

Eh. So yea, I guess its a problem for the left to the extent that… Jesus fucking christ. Anyway Mahers articulation of issues on the left is much more quantifiable and agreeable.

edit: Yea a bunch of points I agree with, internet social media gave these people, also psychopaths, forums to meet each other and attain critical mass. My personal assertion here is that we’re looking at the horrifying prospect that freedom of speech may have been stretched to a breaking point. And that sucks.(and coincidentally what Elon is failing to grasp)

1. If you're not afraid of, and disgusted by Trump, the ultimate ethics-free authoritarian, Moonie, I'd humbly ask, "Why not?" Please be specific and stick to this one point in your answer.

2. Slavery and the long and still present tail of its after effects remains our country's original sin. No one thinks race is the center of everything. But it is at the center of so much in our country you'd be blind to say or think otherwise. Do you agree, Moonie? If not, why not?

3. If you're not fucking fearful for our planet at our shameful and ignorantly slow response to what is a truly existential crisis for ALL OF US, regardless of what else any of us "thinks" about anything, please explain to me, personally, why not?

Mr. Moon, good sir, this is my heartfelt plea to you not to be smarty-smart, elliptical or overly cute in your answer. PLEASE be as plain spoken and direct as you can. Thanks in advance, my friend.

Well that was extremely stupid. No one argues there’s no such thing as biological sex.

I’ve watched Bill Maher’s show for years and he’s wrong. He’s changed, and he’s become a grumpy old man. He needs to take a step back and look at himself.

Oh and Jordan Peterson is and always has been a clown.

Maher has been going salty old guy for awhile now, it's true. I worry that Trump's time in office, and reactions to it, sent him to a place he can't leave. I hope he isn't trying to chase the alt right incel money like Peterson the clown or that useless twat Russel Brand.

Please get better soon Bill. Promoting the afflicted won't do it.

Of course by "woke gen" you mean random anonymous people on the internet. And by "appetite for diverse opinions" you mean an inability to spot blatant lies and bad logic.

What do they call people getting easily triggered seeing a guy dressed in drag?

Come on dude. You can't use a media site funded by Murdoch and founded by the guy who took over Rush Limbaugh's radio slot and expect us to accept their far right wing conclusions on what was said.
I went and looked for a written synopsis of the relevant parts of the video to this thread and found them quoted in the link. I made the link so he could read the some of what was quoted as said. It makes no difference who quotes what was said so long as the quotes are factual. It is to be expected that right wing media is going to have a climax over anything that might impugn the left
Actually,, it's the lying windbag bullshit that triggered me.
Yes, I know, you feel victimized by the incorrectness of others but don't want to see how childish that is. Take your ball and go home.

Oh boy, nothing like work:

I am all of those things. I am afraid that our democracy will fall. Trump makes me sick and so full of rage that I have unmentionable thoughts. But I am also aware that I am crazy, that all of that arises out of my past, how I was hurt by the indifference and lack of empathy of others, how I was blamed for being worthless, how all I am here for is to be punished by God and so much so that I had to have an ego that could deny it, the biggest ego imaginable, one that not only was right and moral, but could actually prove it, not like others who just believed in themselves without question.

That lead to a journey that ended in death. I realized there is no truth and no proof of anything. I realized that the prison of ego, the certainty it feigns, is a cage with invisible bars, built on unexamined assumptions that once exposed, lose their unconscious power to validate belief. Life is meaningless and all that remained was a monkey named Moonbeam who loves to swing by his tail and offers you a banana. Have one on me.

We all were taught to feel guilt as an original sin, that heresy from the norms of culture make us unworthy and lead to punishment. We seekers sail upwind into the face of guilt and slay dragons with swords and mirrors. When you lose everything that is sacred there isn't anything left to lose. Then you can let go and give up. A bit of that changes everything. All the programming from the past, so much of it is still there, unconscious assumptions I have not exposed, but enough undone that on a good day I can see that all my fears are just of seeing me. I know that to see them out there and react as if that were the real source is insanity. Knowledge modifies insanity by helping not to take one's insanity seriously.

So despite my fears and my disgust, I know they are not really about Trump but derive from when I was told long ago not to be him on penalty of death. I hate and am disgusted by Trump because I was taught to feel those things about myself.

Totally agree. Am not blind to it and haven't been since I was a child and realized that people are insane. In the video a differentiation is made between liberal colorblindness and all the authoritarian wokeness bull shit. I find it racist. I concur with much on that as presented in the video and have been pointing to that problem on the left since some on the left started demanding they not be exposed to things offensive to their beliefs as if they were suffering conservative victim mentality. Plug your ears and shout. It happening in this thread.
3. If you're not fucking fearful for our planet at our shameful and ignorantly slow response to what is a truly existential crisis for ALL OF US, regardless of what else any of us "thinks" about anything, please explain to me, personally, why not?
We may be fucked. I have seen it coming since I was a child. Grab all the gusto you can, bro, because the one who dies with the most toys wins instead of do nothing that would harm 7 generations out. But none of that will change until enough people wake up. My focus has always been on why we sleep, what it costs us, and what it takes to awaken. There are no answers that are not awareness driven. Personally, I think it may be possible with great effort and if we are actually now truly fucked, to shade the planet from space to cool things down. But there is so much to be said by those who would have to pay the required taxes. I have air conditioning, right?

We create what we fear so fear is not the answer. When people are told their fear will create the very problem they demand to be solved, and of course always by somebody else, they can become so threatened they may even try to kill you before they allow the facts to sink in.

Fear is the mind killer. There is nothing wrong with your vision, the problem, in my opinion is the reaction to it.

I hope this helps.

In not let me know.
