This is about a speeding ticket I got Few months ago..

So, I went to court in Mundeline this morning . It was a new court and only does traffic matters.
I checked in and waited. (there was this HOT reception girl who kinda looked like x-tina but way hotter.. its moments like that I wish i had a phone camera .. ^0^)
Judge comes in. Makes an announcement.

"For anyone that doesnt have a moving violation within last 2 years prior to this will get 60 days supervision and $79 fine and it will not go on your perminant record"

so I lined up on "guilty" line and that was that :)

much better than paying over $200 to goto traffic school.

I guess this is a new thing.

In IL btw. :)

What exactly is 60 days supervision? Does this just mean if you do something stupid within 60 days, you are fvcked?

i think as long as I dont get a ticket within that period im ok :)

heh my first speeding ticket was when i was doing 120mph on 65mph zone (high way) cop went easy on me and reduced it to 89mph :) I think he didnt meter me when I passed him(he was hidng somwhere since i didnt see him ;), and he said it took him 3 miles to catch up. So, he probably metered me when he was closer. And I went to court and pleaded guilty but they lowered it a notch since it was my first speeding ticket and it also went for supervision, no record :)

hopefully I wont get a ticket anymore :)

All courts have a huge case backlog and court time is expensive. So they try to get the non-criminal and the less seriuous offenders processed and out of the system as soon and as cheaply as possible.

If you get a speeding ticket you get "points". Having points means you pay higher insurance rates and if you get enough points you can loose your license. You can reduce the number of points if you go to traffic school. Sometimes if your driving offense is stupid enough the court will make traffic school a condition for keeping your license.

Thats stupid. In BC, not sure about other provinces, you get points for tickets I think its a max of like 3 points per ticket... and there is a leniance of 6 points or something per year anymore than that and you have to pay, and the fines increase exponentially as the points increase. Ours is only based on year to year, but you do not have to pay more for insurance, obviously you can lose your license if you have too many points, but I think it only happens if you don't pay your fines. Reason I am not sure is because I have never gotten more than 6 points in a year.

I am not sure how to answer your "that's stupid" comment. But here points are removed from your record over time.
