Abit VA6
Celeron 500 Default Voltage/No OC. - Retail Package
MSI slocket for PPGAs

The retail fan/hs was used since it wasn't for OC.

The white paste it has one the retail fan melted and it turned into wax or something like that.. it melted and slipped off to the side.. like a wax candle.

Anyone had something like this before ?

Also running a P3/733 @ default speed & voltage heats up like crazy using the retail fan.

I'm getting rid of this garbage and getting a CUSL2

Which fan/heatsink is good for a mid tower.. like something that'll fit the CUSL2

Thanks!

both a pal6035(or pal35t) alpha, if you're willing to spend the money.(or can find one.)

Of course, if you want a cheaper solution, you can always get a taisol unit. The gorb's work, but they're somewhat painful(you have to push a few capacitors around to get them on) to get onto the cpu. I find that a taisol with a loosened clip(this is absolutely necessary, since the taisol is a socket A heatsink) performs better than the gorb.

Its quiet and performs within a few degree's of a pal6035 in my setup(which is a few degree's better than the gorb does).

Taisol Heatsink

No, I don't work for taisol. But for less than a price of a gorb, you can get a better performing heatsink.

Thats a good looking sink.. you think I can throw a bigger fan on it.. btw.. how loosen do you need the clip.. shouldn't they have a fc-pga version?.. Anyway, where do you get that nice fellow ?

the link in my first response is to taisol's direct store.

It is a nice heatsink. I'm sure it would perform better with a more powerful fan, but i've tested it only with the original 60mmx10mm fan.

All it takes is a pair of needle nose pliers to loosen it... i tested loosening it with a cpu on an old slotket to make sure it worked ok.

MikeWarrior2,

Do you know what fan is on your taisol?

My CEK733092 (the $11.30 one) has a Delta AFB0612HA, which from Delta's site is a 16.6 CFM fan. Taisol's spec sheet for this HSF says 21.19CFM so I wrote Taisol this morning to find out. You can see the Delta label by removing the two clips up, removing the fan, there is a Delta label on the HS side of the fan.

EDIT: Got a reply from Taisol already....they said the fan in the two 1.1gig HSFs is specially designed by Delta for Taisol, and is 21.19 CFM

That's hte same fan I have on mine. Its got the springclips to lock it down the heatsink.

What I really do like about it is, that the sucker is extremely quiet for the amount of cooling it provides.

MikeWarrior2,

You are right....the fan on the Taisol is really quiet....and it does cool a LOT better than the retail HSF....
