I just got done reading this thread at the S@H msg boards. Dealing with auto-updating/security of the upcoming BOINC client.

Interesting reading material. Folding@Home currently downloads new cores as necessary, though I'd never given that security risk much thought. Nevertheless, it seems to make a good case for chroot-ing stuff like this into its own "jail" (of course, this is a UNIX-only thing 😉) to minimize the risk involved.
