Cassette Tape duplicator:

It's built like a tank, and weighs about as much as one.

We were doing a cleanup in the sound room at my church and got rid of lot of stuff that was no longer needed. Grabbed a bunch of random stuff, amps, and this. I have no idea what I'm even going to do with this thing but it felt like too much of a relic to just toss it in the trash.

Maybe I'll do a video tear down of it at some point or something.

You can copy Apple ][ games!

Do remember to turn off NR.

Don't copy that floppy tape!

Funny enough we were recording tapes up until the 2010 era. Lot of people would request them for listening to speeches in their car. Older cars from like late 90's still have a tape deck and no CD.

You say that like ATOT isn't full of people that drove cars that didn't have CD players when they were young :p

I had one truck with a digital am radio. It was high tech enough to be digital, but not high tech enough to include the fm band. That's some stupid shit there...

A friend of mine acquired an old Bronco, I forget which year, some time around end of highschool/first couple of years of college.

It only had an AM radio.

Soon enough, he was all into Neal Bortz and started descended into loony territory on the regular, started needing to "Tell us stuff that we never would know." That's pretty much when we lost Nate. This was maybe 20 years ago.

DJ mixtapes were all the rage back in my day. Used to search through them from this one vendor that set up shop at some raves. Dig to find the best sets from our favorite DJ's.

Want that long ago. 25 years

It's all fun and games until you're driving late at night and you start picking up the weird alien conspiracy stations.

A good buddy of mine I've known for 26 years has driven cross country at least 3 times, starting one time like 23-24 years ago. Not to get from East to West coast fast, but to explore as much as possible. He said the radio stations down South are fucking scary. Real right wing crazy shit and racist redneck stuff.

Not at all. I know he's done a few different routes. Just texted him, he did the deep south route twice - in 2005 and 2012. This was when he lived in Jersey where we grew up. Shit could get scary down there when you got outside the cities. And the shit they heard on the radio was fucked up. Why is that so surprising? Crazy preachers and religious stuff. Mini rush limbaugh wanna bes. Fuck, even Rush played Obama the magic negro in his show after he was huge and syndicated. AM radio is everywhere though, so were the loons on it. Didn't have to get too far out of cool cities like Austin to start hearing the ignorance on the radio he always said. Just got scarier in the deep South. Fucking AM radio.

Bull shit.

Guess you skipped the GA Senate race where Warnok subscribed to the pos racist farrakan...God damned America...

Guess we found the racist. GTFO.
How are you telling me that one of my best friends for over two decades didn't drive across the country? He absolutely loves traveling, mostly via road tripping. First time he did cross country we drove to Ohio to an Ekoostik Hookah festival, Hookahville. Six of us in two cars. After the festival three of us came back to Jersey, the three of them, including my good buddy and his brother, went cross country and back. That was 2005. They went from Ohio to Georgia and then all the way to Cali. Camped at mostly KWA's - roughly 2 nights camping then a motel to get civilized again. His name is Matt, do you want a sperm sample?

My ex, who just turned 42, grew up in Austin, minus 4-5 years as a kid when her dad worked in Germany, and went to college in Texas. She loves Austin. Just moved back there this year after 10 years in NYC due mostly to covid. She said the same thing, get too far outside Austin in the wrong direction, it can get scary. And that's not even the deep south.

I'm 45 now, but about 30 years ago I worked in Virginia Beach for a whole summer for my dad's cousin that owned a motel and a restaurant, his son was a few years older than me. We are all white. Virginia Beach is no deep south and it's not even rural. I never heard the N word so much in my life. And not the way rappers use it.

Get outside the cities in a lot of those areas, and it gets wack. I have no reason to doubt anything they've told me.

Shit. You got Trump supporters vandalizing black churches in DC and wearing shirts that say 6 million wasn't enough, in reference to the holocaust. And that's in DC in front of cameras. You are delusional. Of course you'd go after the one black Senate candidate. Go fucking figure.

You have been Short Circuited. Some vague reference to a controversial figure is not enough to Hate this man this much.

My radio actually said Solid State on it.

Wasn't that a Tandy/Radio Shack branding thing?

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I mentally associate seeing that phrase on devices with Radio Shack branding.

I haven't even seen the insane Trumphumpers who are trying to overthrow democracy and believe a gazillion conspiracy theories go after Warnock for being a racist. You got serious issues.

As far as the wacky right wing religious and racist radio shit in the South? I have no reason to doubt my buddy or my ex, and based upon my experience with what I've seen once Obama got elected and since especially, on all kinds of travels over the internet, I have every reason to believe it's pretty terrible. Everything from QAnon to Racist Neo-Nazis to the insane Evangelicals who give their money to these insane preachers, all loving the prezzie -all the pieces of the puzzle are right there. You couldn't pay me to live in the Deep South outside a decently sized city ever.

Do you mean radio stations promoting weird conspiracy theories about aliens, or radio stations run by aliens as part of their weird conspiracies?
