This is a bit of a debacle. At least the software fix seems to be holding, meaning there needn't be a recall. But then, I doubt VIA would ever recall a product. They would just release a patch that fixed the problem at the expense of crippled performance.
If, like the article says, their are no performance penalties with the fix, then VIA has no excuse not to include it in their next 4-in-1 release. Of course, to do that, they would have to publicly admit a bug, which few in this industry have the balls to do.
