Interesting (and historical) WWII photo for you all.

This was taken by my wife's grandfather who was army intelligence in the South Pacific theater during WWII. It's a shot of the first American supply planes landing in Manila after it was liberated by Allies forces. Historical, and a cool photo in and of itself. I have this blown up to an 8 x 12 and framed at home, and it occured to me that you all might enjoy it.

my grandpa has sum photos of nazi meetings and stuff like that, they found a roll of negatives, and a few of them got copies of it, they are unique

my wifes grandparents met and decided to marry though V-mail in WWII. still married 50 years later... of course they are crazy as loons but hey they are happy!

Ah, V-mail. Those were the days.

I wish I had some pictures of my grandfather on D-Day. That must've been a hell of a sight.

awesome! i love pics of historical stuff that people i know are related too, cause they know the stories best

recently i've gotten interested in my familys history during WWII, so i think this summer im going to do some research on it

Very cool photo. Here's an interview with my grandfather talking about his experience in Okinawa. It's a very good read. I'll have to scan some of his photographs when I go back to New Orleans.

Fausto, you probably know this, but that aircraft is almost certainly a
C-47/DC-3 AKA Gooney Bird, Skytrain, Dakota.
My great uncle was a radio operator in these flying the Hump in CBI
