Interchangeability of logitech wireless mice/keyboards

Would my older logitech wireless keyboards connect through the usb receiver units that come with more recently manufactured logitech wireless mice? or do the new receiver units only work for the device they came with?

I ask this because I just read on amazon that the receiver unit that comes with the Nano VX only works with that particular mouse and doesn't work with logitech wireless keyboards. Is it the same with other logitech mice like the mx revolution, vx revolution, etc.?

I had the same issue. I wanted to match a revolution and a keyboard but the revolution will not work with any keyboards. So I went ahead an got an mx5000. And them a week later they released the MX5500 revolution. It was exactly what I wanted but there is no way I would every pay north of $150 for a KB/mouse combo.
