Interact Mobile Monitor 5" LCD for PSOne $49.99

Not sure if this is a hot deal or not, but here goes my first attempt...

My local SamGoody store has the Interact Mobile Monitor marked down to $49.99. They had 3 in stock. Two were the newer model with a 5" LCD screen and one was the older one with a 4" screen. These screens have standard composite inputs and come with a car adapter. When I checked out the guy told me that these had just recently gotten marked down. The guy that checked me out said that it should be the same at all B&M SamGoody stores, but YMMV.
I picked up one and it works great with my PSOne. I haven't tried it with anything else yet though.

Seems you got lucky... I just called my local Sam Goody and they had 2 of these...@ $149 each.

Maybe this will be the new suggested retail price? It is a bit ludicrous to buy a $130-150 5" screen that is meant to work with a game console that is now $49.

Anyone interested might look at the $199 portable DVD from Walmart thread. I don't know if that one has a/v inputs for game console use. There's also a thread on a portable DVD player (no screen) for $99 from Target.

Here's InterAct's official site where you can get the details on this puppy. I just tried calling the Lakewood California Sam Goody's and they did a price check on the phone - $129.99. Although the lady who had me on hold kept saying that she thought they had gone down in price, to around $50, but when the other employee came back and scanned it she said their price had not dropped.

Maybe not all stores have the new price yet? Not sure.

It's a shame neither the site nor the pdf has any useful info like resolution. It just says "high-resolution mobile monitor"

FYI, this LCD only comes with the cigarette lighter power adapter. They are expecting you to use the PSone ac adapter for use at home.

I have a couple questions:
If I buy one of these monitors what would I need in order to run it and say a N64 or home DVD player in my car? Would I need a power inverter or something? And how would I power it at home, because I do not have a PSOne. Thanks!

I also noticed that the Sam Goody site has some product info - they're showing it at $75 and currently unavailable. Weird.

Anyhow, the monitor has a car adapter so it would be trivial to run this thing in your vehicle. It's also got AV inputs so you can hookup a DVD or VCR to it. Seems like all you'd need is a portable DVD player that runs off a car adapter and you'd be set. Mobile movies.
