To be fair, I think the obvious choice for those in the know will be the 600 series, given its EM64T support.
This was done because AMD was hurting Intel's sales by having a perceived advantage, and IA-64 wasn't going anywhere with its less than stellar performance.
But if Intel truly believed that AMD64 extensions were useless, like they said numerous times in the past, then they could have followed what they supposedly believed and not taken advantage of the cross licensing. How much AMD "hurt Intel's sales" is a matter of debate (it probably wasn't too noticeable), but the fact is that Intel talked crap about AMD64 (nobody needs it, and BS like that), which shows that they were concerned about it to some degree.
