Intel's on Chip GPU, what about memory BW?

They are working towards more powerful integrated GPUs but how will they address the Bandwidth to memory issue?

At some point it will be a moot point to keep throwing more EU's into the mix when your limited to 20GB/s shared with the main CPU system ram.

How will they address this?

Wider striping (more channels)/DDR4

However, the latency has to be killer.

They will add an L4 cache consisting of DRAM, to offer lots of bandwidth to the iGPU and reduce power consumption.

I doubt we'll see a wider mem path. The whole purpose of integrating the gpu is to save money, and more mem channels/higher bandwidth channels will just make it more expensive. DDR4 seems like the most likely.

Currently the only way to improve IGPU besides Overclocking is by using higher frequency DDR3 ram. The irony is that anyone spending that much on ram is likely buying a discrete GPU.
