I would bet that if Intel does this that AMD will follow. It might cause chip sales to slow at first but after awhile people will eventualy give in and be buying new cpus more often then they curently are just to get that extra bit of performance you would have been able to get out of overclocking making it a faster cpu. So in the long run they will probably actualy gain more buisness.

Who says that it isn't? It's my hardware. What I do with it after I buy it is nobody's business but mine.

Kinda like when you buy a car, you can take off the catalytic converter & muffler? It is your car after all.

You can't take it off, just like you can't take a few pins off the CPU and expect it to work, but you can overclock it (bore it out) just like CPUs;)
