They won't be able to rope gullible consumers into 'dual core' computers featuring pentium D's anymore- since there are no crappy intel quads out there (from netburst era that is)

Isn't it a fairly safe assumption that if a moran doesn't know the difference between Pentium D and C2D or C2Q then they are equally likely to not need the performance of a C2D or C2Q as well? How many simultaneous sessions of solitaire are these morans running anyway?

Theres ignorant people all over the place. I just bought a 3 week old x48 mobo, for almost 50% of it's original price. The guy upgraded, then found out i7 was coming out, so hes upgrading again :p And yeah I know i7 is coming out, I can't afford it though, so from s939 to x48 and 3.8ghz c2d will be a big enough jump :p

nope, it is completely wrong to assume it, in fact a person who does not that is much more likely to have a bogged down system with tons of junk running and will benefit much more in terms of speed and responsiveness of the computer then a person who has a clean running system.

Knowing more about computers doesn't magically make me "need" more "speed". Doing a task in 5 seconds or 10 has the same effect on a completely clueless or the most expert of computer users.

Well... even if it was not a meme it would still be an obviously intentional modification, like using a Z instead of an S.
But some could argue that either situation does not reflect well on the speaker.

I intentionally used the word "need" in my post for a reason. Your response implies you read that word as being "want" or the phrase "benefit from".

I did... but who actually NEEDS a computer? except for those using it for their income (Aka video editors and the like)
