IntelliPoint 4.0 Software---Error trying to install: "Windows Installer:1: 2803 2: SetupError 3: 4: 5: 6:"
Somebody, I need serious help!
I have the latest Intellimouse Explorer, and I previously had version 4.0 of the Intellimouse Explorer software.
After monkeying around a bit, I decided to reinstall the software...but accidently reinstalled version 3.2.
Since I couldn't find the 4.0 software, I decided to download it on the internet. I went for version 4.1
It installed just fine, but the software did not detect my mouse as a IntelliMouse Explorer...but rather some other dinky mouse.
Somethings transpired between then and now...and I can't remember all what I did.
But now I can't install or remove IntellPoint 4.0. Everytime I go in the "Add Remove Programs", it sends me that same "Windows Installer: 1: 2803 2: SetupError 2: 4: 5: 6:" error.
I try installing the version 4.1 from the internet. Same Error!
I try installing it from the 4.0 CD. Same Error!
Not only that, EVERYTIME I CLICK OK ON THE ERROR, IT RESTARTS MY COMPUTER!
RESTART, RESTART, RESTART, RESTART
I'm absolutely stuck!
I've done a ton of research on this subject, and found numerous complaints similar to this issue. Some people talk about using some "dialog editor" and "rebuilding the project" such as here: http://www.installsite.org/forum1/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=17&topic=1
Other people such as here have this same problem but do not get answers:
http://www.computing.net/beos/wwwboard/forum/236.html
But this is such in-depth stuff, that I have no clue where to start. Does somebody have a clue how to resolve this specific error message with Windows Installer?
My OS is Win98 SE
Thanx in advance.
