Intellimouse page down's 2 pages

Beginning last week, when I click on the scrollbar (below the bar) at the side of the screen, my screen no longer does a page down, it flies two pages down, and I miss everything in between. This seems to only happen on my internet browser, not on windows programs when I am not using the browser. I have checked all my internet settings, but I dont find anything that addresses this issue. I have also been to microsoft and looked thru their help section for the intellimouse. And as a last resort, I re-installed my mouse driver thinking possibly it had gotten corrupted.. nope! Nothing has worked, and its driving me insane! Can someone tell me how to make my mouse just do ONE page down when I click on the sidebar??? Thanks for the help!

If you click close to the bottom of the bar, it will jump 1 page. If you click far away, it will jump 2 pages. It's part of one of Microsoft's updates...don't remember which. Saw this today on another (unremembered) website. microsoft feels it is a "feature".

Did you visit Windowsupdate recently? A new security patch for IE introduced this highly irritating bug. Posting in OT mentions it. Scroll about halfway down the page for the links; they're quoted in my posting. Shouldn't take you as long to scroll that far now. 😛

And it's not mouse related - I thought it was too at first, but then I saw that OT post. I've got a Logitech Dual Optical.
It'd be great if MS would get around to fixing this. Fix one thing though, screw something else up. I guess that when they try to patch it, the scroll bar will just stop working completely.
