I don't know for sure since i don't have an optical mouse, but sometimes when my computer doesn't shutdown properly, the numlock light on my keyboard stays lit(i have the abit be6-2 mobo). Is it shutting down ok? If it is then I dunno :)

I think it's because ATX systems (maybe only some of them, depends on mobo probably) still supply power to your keyboard/mouse. My keyboard lights are on when the system is off too (this is ps/2?).

Yup, looks like your Mobo passes juice through...Even when it's shutdown.

Very interesting!

One solution is to plug comp and all peripherals into a surge strip.
After shut-down, flip switch on strip.

Mine stays on..
I have the explorer

I think it's the Motherboard.. cuz some motherboard have features such as auto boot up or boot up by a click of a mouse.. therefore it's supplying the powers to your mouse.. don't quote me on it. but i think that's how it is.

my motherboard will auto boot up everyday @ 7 am

Interesting...I'm using an intellimouse Optical on my Asus K7M, an ATX motherboard and it goes out when the system's off. I wonder why some boards still keep power going to the mouse port.
