I have two HDs, both WD, one 13.6 gig, one 40 gig. I usually boot off of the 13.6 and the 40 gig just has assorted data on it. I recently switched these two HD's to this new system. I formatted the 13.6 gig and did clean install of win98se.
Problem number 1: My intellimouse explorer (usb) will not function correctly. Shows as unknown USB device. It has worked on several different occasions, but ends up not working again the next boot. Now installation program will not reinstall or uninstall, and it crashes my puter when I try.
Problem number 2: 40 gig HD will not show up in BIOS since I reformatted the 13.6. Before format of 13.6 gig, it showed, but it was the incorrect size. Now, setting 13.6 gig to master and 40 gig to slave results in neither drive showing up in BIOS.
Interesting thing: System will not reboot directly via cntrl alt delete or through start menu. It goes blank, loses monitor signal and I am forced to hit the restart button.
Any bright ideas? Input would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Otis
