IntelliMouse Explorer 4 occasionally unresponsive

I have had an intellimouse explorer 4 for my pc for roughly 4 months. The mouse was fine. I reinstalled my PC (as I do every few months as a matter routine), and ever since then the mouse has been very unresponsive. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 clicks to register, i.e. I click the left mouse button and nothing happens.

Does this mouse have a track record of doing this ? if so is there a work around. I dont see why its behaviour would suddenly change as my pc set up is the same now as it was before.

Read the customer reviews at Amazon or Newegg, or do a Google search, and you'll see that there are problems with the switches on the IntelliMouse Explorer. I've had mine for a week and I've had no problems so far, although the right button clicks louder than the left button...I just hope I don't run into problems in a couple of months...
 
i have one too for work... and several times if I wasn't at work that thing would have been broken into itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini pieces
