I bought an Intellimouse Explorer when they first came out (1.0). I loved and it has been working fine until a few weeks ago. So I called up MS and ordered a replacement. I just got it today. Obviously its a 3.0 version. As soon as I took it out of its box I noriced something was wrong: the shape was all wrong! Its much thinner and more angular. The 1.0 version had a very rotund look to it; this one looks sleeker. So I plug it in and start using it. Ugh! This is going to take me a long time to get used to. They made it about 20% smaller I would say. Since I have large hands, the IE 1.0 fit my hands perfectly. This one is a bit too small, and I have to crunch my hand up to make it fit right, and then I get cramps. Still, I'd rather use this than any other mouse. I tried one of those Logitech optical mice, and the shape was so weird and un-ergonomic I gave to one of my friends.

Oh well, it was free. I guess I cant complain, and its still a great mouse, just will take some getting used to.

i bought the 1.0 when it first came out, laid FULL RETAIL $$ on it. mine still works after over 2 years.

i also have the v3. the v1 fits my hand much better though. my hands are kinda wide, so, v1 never really fit my hand either, but it was better. i have had the v3 for a few months, and i have gotten used to it. though the side buttons are too small.

i feel sorry for left handed people who don't get such sweet ergo mice =(

anyway =\

Strange how preferences go...I din't buy the first model JUST BECAUSE it was a bit more chunky. When the new intellimouse explorer wireless came out I couldn't believe the sweet feel of it! It fit my hand perfectly! Well I just got one for xmas and have to say that I'll be getting one for the office too...

Give it a chance...if you don't love it now, you'll love its soon enough!
