In college, I shared a room with a good friend of mine who is now a resident at UCLA medical school. He is absolutely brilliant and loves debating politics, religion, books, music, etc.

However, the first thing he did when he got home from class everyday was log onto the WWF (now WWE) website to read about the latest wrestling matches & gossip. He'd never miss WWE Raw or Smackdown & even took me to a few Wrestlemania's.

When talking about wrestling, he looks & sounds like a little kid! "Did you see when The Rock did the People's Elbow to Vince McMahon?! That was awesome!!!" And he actually means it. No sarcasm whatsoever!

This guy will do presentations to surgeons during the day & watch videos of John Cena laying the smackdown at night. He knows it's all an act, yet follows it fervently. Why!?!

Mind boggling.

Because it's entertaining? I listen to gangsta rap and watch ultra-violent movies (sometimes, anyway) even though I'm not a thug and don't kill people, because it's entertaining. Simple as that.

have you talked to many doctors or surgeons? I would describe their humor as just below toilet level. Many of them get into Jackass and shit like that, as well.

Anything to distract you from the drudgery of plumbing anuses all day long.

I watched professional wrestling for awhile when a couple of my friends (girls at that) got me into it. It wasn't that bad actually, the wrestling I didn't really care about but there are storylines in the episodes; some of it was funny as fuck. It's like a drama/humor show with fake wrestling, basically.

I agree. One of my friends (who now has his PhD in molecular Bio) got me back into it in college for a few years. it was great to drink and watch, and get hi...uh, 😱

anyhoo, entertaining for sure. no one takes it seriously, least of all the performers.

Yeah, I remember in 10th grade, one of my friends was in the gifted math program, and was taking AP Calculus (in 10th grade), he was into the WWF/WWE. This was back when the Ultimate Warrior was popular etc..

I qualified for Mensa and loved Zoolander.

"What is this? A center for ants? How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read... if they can't even fit inside the building!"

After a long day of taking my immense and throbbing brain against a sea of troubles, and by opposing ending them, a bit of Shoot Em Up or Ramen Fighter Miki soothes my weary mind.

It's funny, the Rock hasn't wrestled for a few years yet you remember his signature move and who he was doing it to and you know John Cena. Who's the one who watches wrestling again?
