"U.S. officials said that they had no evidence President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine or his top lieutenants were involved in the operation, or that the perpetrators were acting at the direction of any Ukrainian government officials."

[...]

"U.S. officials say they have not found any evidence of involvement by the Russian government in the attack. Officials who have reviewed the intelligence said they believed the saboteurs were most likely Ukrainian or Russian nationals, or some combination of the two. U.S. officials said no American or British nationals were involved."

Whoa.

Well. Germany needed a little help reaching the right conclusions, so forcing their hand here ... was probably necessary.

The question anytime intelligence leaks (and especially low-confidence intelligence like this), is what is the leaker's agenda? Not clear in this case. Although possibly someone trying to weaken Ukrainian support, particularly in Europe.

Based on what was leaked, the link to Ukraine is very tenuous at best (none of the actual identities of the 6 saboteurs is supposedly known, just that they used "professionally" faked passports), with the only leaked tie to Ukraine being a Polish company with Ukrainian owners which was apparently used to lease the yacht suspected of executing the sabotage. No reports on where money actually came from, or where the saboteurs were from.

Which doesn't really rule out anyone, particularly Russia with history of many (particularly rich) "Ukrainian" planted assets. Although in counter to that, I would have expected Russia to be the ones making the leak much earlier, if they really had been behind a complete cover-up false flag like that, blaming Poland and Ukraine with some supporting evidence would have been a wonderful windfall for them last year to try to break up NATO/EU unity behind Ukraine.

Which gets back to it may actually be an accurate leak (Ukrainian partisans), but leaked still undoubtedly with a purpose...

I distinctly remember hearing media reports of certain Russian-flagged vessels being in the vicinity of the sites of the undersea pipeline cuts immediately before the gas bubbles were seen. Will have to research that a bit more. Even if it was a false flag op, those vessels had to belong to someone, right?

I’m not discounting the intelligence—it’s certainly plausible. My question is—how did they do it, and who helped them???

It was always a far reach the Russian government would blow up their own pipelines which may as well had limitless dollars roll through them. There's plenty of other false flag ops they could do instead of ruining a revenue stream. Can't say who it was, but unlikely to be the Russian govt itself.

Well. Germany needed a little help reaching the right conclusions, so forcing their hand here ... was probably necessary.

Probably had something to do with this, if not the cause it's a definite bonus.

This intel leak says it was a pro-Ukrainian effort, but with no evidence of Ukrainian government involvement. Maybe this "leaked" report is sanitized. If the US government had definitive intel which said Zelensky was involved, there's no chance they'd ever release it. Last thing we need is Germany and the rest of Europe turning on Ukraine right now.

If Zelensky did greenlight the operation, I understand why he did it. That pipeline is a direct national security threat to Ukraine. Germany should never have put itself in a position of being dependent on Russia in the first place.

Yeah, rated "low confidence."

WhyTF is this low confidence shit being released? Hell didn't they do a goddamn press conference for the COVID lab leak one?

They have to know that it being put out there means people will just believe it despite their evidence being basically not fit to wipe your ass with. Is the Intelligence Community trying to sabotage Biden? Or is this some moronic attempt at being transparent that is just having the opposite affect because average people don't know how to vet information?

Best guess? It's coming from someone "inside the house" that goes home and wears a red hat while dry jerking it to the Faux News prime time lineup.
