My Intellieye mouse hangs very so slightly - and intermittently. Is this a known problem? Its just bad enough to be an irritation. I'm using W2K.

DynaOne, mine does this too on occasion. I run Windows ME but it seems like it only does it if the mouse cable gets tangled up with other cables like my joystick or gamepad. I'm not sure if its just coincidence or what but it seems like that is the only time it happens.

Is it connected to the USB port? Does it only happen when there is heavy harddrive access? If so, try hooking it up to the PS/2 port. USB takes up a lot of CPU power.

Its got a USB connector, with USB to PS2 converter, and is attached to the ps2 mouse port.

theres a difference when you convert to PS2. Mouse seems slower and windows doesnt recognize it as a optical mouse.

Don't even worry about identification as an optical mouse in device manager, that's rather cosmetic.

If you have the Intellipoint drivers installed, your mouse will perform as it should, it's an optical mouse physically, not being identified will not make it grow a ball :) Secondly, the Intellipoint drivers will push the mouse refresh to around 90-120hz if it's on the PS/2 port. That's getting pretty close the 125hz of the USB port.

Thanks for all the help. I'm suspicious of the mouse as well.

Do you still have the number to get a replacement mouse? I checked the Microsoft website and wasn't able to find anything specific.

Thanks!

i have the intellimouse explorer, and the only thing i've noticed is sometimes when playing an FPS game, i'll jerk the mouse and my character will end up just staring at the ground running around in circles. all i have to do is pick the mouse up off the surface, and it werks like a charm again. seemed to have a lot more problems when i used win98 and the earlier intellipoint drivers, but the newest ones from M$ seem to be doing better.
