Intelli Mouse Stops Responding In Counter Strike

I have a Microsoft Intelli Mouse Explorer 3.0, I thought that it was beginning to die as when I would play counter strike it would stop responding in game. I returned it to the store and got a brand new one. During normal non game use it is fine, during other games it also seems to be fine. However in Counter Strike when I look around or shoot it will often freeze, nothing is wrong with the game, just my mouse abilities are gone, no looking around or shooting. This happened once long enough that I clicked repeatedly and got a beeping noise coming from the motherboard ( i guess? )

Any ideas ? The mouse is brand new, and all my other usb peripherals seem fine. It doesn't shut off, ie the light doesn't turn off, when it stalls, so I dunno ?

Try the mouse on a different computer, repatch CS and HL, download a driver for the mouse, and if all else fails, switch to a Logitech MX mouse

I had exactly the same problem - in CS the mouse froze and the speaker beeps, everything else and its fine. Is your mouse USB? I found my problem was down to the USB port interupts conflicting. I would suggest either use a USB->PS2 converter on the mouse or disable some of the USB ports you don't need in the BIOS (thats what I did).

Was happening to me in CS 1.5, never tried 1.6

The same thing has been happening to me since i got my intellimouse explorer 3.0 about a year ago. Its plugged in to PS2 cause the laptop I have wont recognize it in USB. If I move the mouse too fast, like when I turn after getting ambushed by a camper, sometimes I will lose mouse function. I have noticed the LED usually powers off when that happens. If I let the thing sit without moving at all until the light comes back on, it usually fixes itself. If I keep moving it the only way to gain mouse function is to reboot. It pisses me off so much. The amount of times I have died from this is rediculous. BTW mine is 1.5 too. Back to fragging.
