I'm a bit of a noobie to the bare CPU market. I'm looking to upgrade my Mac Pro over the next few months, using hex core X5600 series Intel Xeons from '10 to '13, now out of production.
Ebay is full of server pulls, from fairly cheap for the slower clock speeds like x5660 and x5670 up to about a grand for the 3.46 x5690.
Does anyone have advice about price trends for used CPUs? Will these prices trend down all the time, or only drop after more time has passed? If its going to be the same most of this year, I'll just settle for slower speeds
