Intel Xeon E5410 Harpertown vs Intel Xeon E5345 Clovertown

So I'm shopping around for processors and am looking at these two similar processors but they vary significantly in price:

Intel Xeon E5410 (Harpertown) vs Intel Xeon E5345 (Clovertown)

One would think that the smaller architecture of the E5410, the bigger L2 Cache, and the more advanced instruction (SSE4) would cause E5410 to be more expensive than the E5345. Can someone please give me an explanation as to why this is not the case?

Harpertown is Clovertown successor. I would think the lack of supply has kept/raised the price of Clovertown. New released Intel CPUs does not mean a price cut for an end of life product

Harpertown is the 45nm replacement for Clovertown. If they were the same architecture, they wouldn't have two different names. I agree with the rest of what you said, though. Welcome to anandtech, kristyle04.

So in short, although the 5410 has more features, because it is greater in quantity... causes it to cost $200 CHEAPER...
That's just not adding up. I know that it is its successor. That's obvious. I see the difference between the 45nm and 65nm (45nm consuming less power and being able to operate more efficiently gives it even more reason to be more expensive).

Why $200 cheaper for what SEEMS to be a better, newer, more efficient product?
