Intel Xeon E5-1650 + registered ECC?

Hi, does anyone know if E5-1650 supports registered ECC memory? :colbert:
I am considering a single processor workstation with 32 to 64G memory.
Thanks.

my understanding is that it does although i can't prove it

the xeon e3 series does NOT support registered of course

Same concern here because of the E3 series.
Did the E3 processor itself cause the lack of reg ECC support or 1155 motherboard restricted it?

I also think E5-16xx supports reg ECC but need prove before emptying my pocket.

I THINK it was the processor itself, as it was basically SB with a ECC support tacked on

SB-E was delayed partly because it was a massive new memory controller with support for a ton of different standards.

Well for now it's a moot point as it's not for sale anywhere

But for further circumstantial evidence, look at the dual socket 2011 server boards and they support registered memory

You could argue that maybe that's only for E5-2600 series, but I doubt it

Didn't plan to buy immediately but want to make sure before finalizing the config of my next build.

I've check the specs for single socket 2011 boards(Intel C602 chip): all of them support reg ECC/non-reg ECC and E5-16xx/E5-26xx at the same time.
