Or is this supported natively?

I am concerned as Vista required me to install the chipset drivers, also i needed to install drivers for SATA AHCI and i cannot find any drivers on Intel's website.

I have found some on Station Drivers but i am dubious about installing custom jobs.

My motherboard is Asus P6T WS Pro. Asus do not list drivers for Windows 7.

Help is appreciated.

W7 should have X58 chipset drivers*, and it (along with Vista) have native AHCI support.

* drivers is a bit of a misnomer here - Intel's drivers are just an INF file that tell windows what device IDs correlate to what class device. Windows has standard drivers for all the chipset components.

Vista did not pick up certain things relating to the chipset, installing the INF utility sorted this out. Along with the AHCI driver as my DVD drive would not work properly.

I keep hearing that Win 7 installs these drivers but I have several things in my Device Manager that say no device driver is installed. SmBus etc. etc.

I went to the Intel site and got the latest Intel X48 chipset drivers for Vista 64 and they act like they are installing but they don't. I even tried installing each device manually from inside Device Manager. No go. Items still report no device driver installed and there is nothing in add/remove programs like there would be in Vista after I installed chipset drivers.

Could just be me but the system acts like there are none there. Things about the OS are just kind of..........hitchy. Almost just like Vista right before I install chipset drivers. Don't know how to explain it. Could be placebo :) ....but I don't think so.

When I installed Windows 7, it picked up all the X58 devices on my system correctly. At least I think it did - there's no devices in Device Manager that have exclamation marks and everything works fine.

After installing Win7 did you go and try any and all drivers from Windows Update?

It's funny. Nothing has exclamation points on mine either. However, when you open each one, several report no device driver installed.

I've been clicking on update every day to see if something new came out but mine reports no available updates.

I just did this and I couldn't find anything without a driver. Can you give an example?

I have an Asus P6T w/ i7 920

I have an Asus P6T w/ i7 920

The following items from the device manager say that no device drivers are installed.
Direct Memory Access Controller
High Precision Event Timer
Intel(R)82802 Firmware Hub Device
Intel(R) ICH9 Family SMBus Controller - 2930
Numeric Data Processor
Programmable interrupt controller

When I open those items, on the very first tab it says "no drivers are installed for this device". If I go to the second tab, it lists a driver provider.
???
I don't understand why they say they don't have driver installed.
