Intel X25-M Version #

I managed to snag to 80GB G2 retail kits from newegg when the holiday sale kicked in. They shipped the same day, but I got two different versions. They both start the same but the ending is -308 on one and -309 on the other. 308 was packed on 10/23/09 and 309 was packed on 11/04/09.

Does anyone know the differences? I am thinking firmware, but there is no external indication of which firmware is installed. One of the drives will end up being a gift so I do not want to install both to check just yet, if that can be avoided.

I had initially intended to order one, but the newegg website was so slow that 45 minutes or so after I placed the order I still had not received any indication of my care being charged, and no order was showing up in my account history. So I ordered again. Then the confirmations started hitting.

I decided not to cancel the second, and it will be a Christmas gift.

If the only difference is thefirmware, that won't matter as I will be flashing to the most recent version anyway.

These are both the G2R5 retail kits (they were the same price as OEM so I got the 3.5 adapter free).

I tried searching but, I keep getting a DB error so I scanned the last several pages of post with nothing similar. So, I am sory if this is a repost.

Thanks.

I didn't see the firmware marked anywhere on the drive, is there a specific place I should be looking?

Thanks.

OK. I opened the anti-static bag on one and found the firmware version on the area covered by the tamper sticker.

308 is 02G9
309 is 02HA
