I have 80G Intel X-25M G1 and it looks like the current f/w from Intel is only for G2 drives. Is there anything I can do to recoup back the performance?

I ran some test through and it's really really really slllooowww! :(

There's no custom f/w or program that I can use to help "clean up" the drive?

Bad luck mate....I'm still flabbergasted that Intel would leave G1 buyers in the lurch like that!!
But I guess they are just too big to care!?

it is supposed to drop about 30% and stay there. if it is really REALLY slow it could be due to a known bug in early firmware for the G1 that was fixed. Did you upgrade to the latest g1 firmware?

oh, and sometimes a drive can be defective causing it to have atrocious performance.

If it is less than 50% of what it should be consider contacting intel.

According to Anand, the G1 without trim is still faster than anything but the G2. How slow are we talking here?

How did you install windows?

eeks! I have about 7G of free space ... I'll get up to 30G of free space and re-run the benchmark, that might it then?

windows was installed by mirroring my old drive to the G1.
