Here's a great present, AMD -- from your good friend, Intel. The
microprocessor king is forfeiting the mainstream desktop GHz
clock race to its closest competitor for the next nine months --
until Intel fields its own comparable speed-grade desktop
processors in mid-2001.

I see this as good and bad. Good, because people can finally see that intel isn't all that. Bad, because there will be a slow down of faster speeds from both AMD and Intel. I liked the competition because it brought us faster and cheaper chips.

Actually if they did not push scambus, and looked at DDR sooner, they wouldn't have that much problems... would have not wasted resources on useless stuff..

there won't be a slow down if intel puts out P4. its higher clock speeds will force AMD put something out that similiar else consumers will think intel is fastest.

Wow, I guess this chanes everything now. I was going to upgrade my cpu after the P4's came out to a higher clocked P3 and go for 1Gig+. But Maybe I should switch to AMD now since they will be putting out faster cpu's over the next 9 months. Yikes!
