Hey all,
So I recently picked up an Intel Centrino 6320 Wifi/Bluetooth/Widi card for my girlfriend's Asus G53 laptop and attempted to get it to work.
It did not work by simply replacing the current atheros ar9002wb-1ng card.
When using a laptop with a primary video card like the 460m in her G53 the Widi software would not install due to system requirements not being met. I was however able to get it to work by disabling the 460m on the motherboard and using the onboard HD 3000 graphics. After plugging it back in I had major problems with getting the Nvidia drivers to work again. I had to use a restore point from earlier.
I guess it makes sense, WiDi compression is handled by the HD 3000 graphics to send the 1080p signal over the air. Using an alternative primary card does not allow this.
Maybe as the technology advances Intel will allow ATI/Nvidia card support to compress the Widi image.
Anyway that's about it.
