Intel VX chipset mobo and PC133?

Just got an old AT mobo with an Intel 233MMX CPU and 32mb of 72pin EDO. The mobo has two 168pin SDRAM slots, supposed it can take up
128mb of memory (one 64mb stick for each slot). I just happen to have two sticks of 64mb PC133 lying around. Can this mobo take them without any probs?
I figure I'm going to make a nice router machine with cheap parts.

if you sure your mb has 168pin 3.3V SDRAM slots, not 168pin 5V EDO/FPM slots,
that PC133 64MB modules should work, just do it.

There is a jumper for 5v/3.3v for the 168-pin slots so I guess I'll be fine:) There's only one way to find out though, I'll just have to shove the sticks in there....

The VX is an old chipset. More than 64mb is a waste.

See... ">64MB memory on TX chipset MB hurt peformance" thread for more information (applies to TX & prior chipsets).

I know.. I don't really care about performance since its darn slow anyway. Having 128mb of memory (despite not being cached by the system)
is still faster than 48mb of EDO ram and constant diskswapping:) Oh, and the PC133 memory worked:D. WinXP pro would even install with 128mb
of memory, 48mb is no go.

If you're gonna make a router out of that thing, you won't need more than 48 MB anyway.

Just throw OpenBSD or a stripped down Linux onto that thing and even 16 or 32 should be fine.

I believe the only way to get 128MB on the VX is 32 × 4 SIMMs, the chipset doesn?t support any type of 64MB modules.

I put a stick of PC100 (64 mgs) in my old Shuttle 569 TX chipset and I had to
adjust the BIOS not to "stop on all errors" as it wouldn't go any farther
on bootup. Worked fine after that..........Greg

The 430VX doesn't support PC133 or any other SDRAM, only FPM and EDO memories. The DIMM slots in the board are for EDO DIMM.

Actually, the Intel VX chipset was the first one to support SDRAM, the mobo manual that came with it ( no-name) said it can support up to
128mb of memory. And the mobo does have a jumper for 5v/3.3v memory, manual says set it to 3.3v for SDRAM operation.
