The mobile Intel chips have a real world speed that is significantly slower than the rated spec. I read somewhere that a 400 MHz XScale is roughly akin to a 200 MHz Pentium Pro. I have a Toshiba E750 and it definitely isn't as fast of a chip as my sister's PII-450

yeah. but full mpg4 playback i expect to be possible because current top end pda's are almost there.

gba emu i dunno.

its a shame transmeta was ahead of the curve by a few years so no one really noticed. now intel is going to steal their thunder.

Agreed, but when they do steal someone's thunder they usually make it better.

Yea, the X-Scales are pretty slow. The newer Sandras have benchmarks inside. The ALU is cheesy, FPU is like pathetic.

But as for GBA emulation, you can already run GBA emus at decent speed (smooth at frameskip = 1) on newer devices such as the iPaq 2215.
