Intel to use PowerVR in upcoming Atom chips?

AFAIK, they have not stopped using PowerVR for the low-power Atoms.

Also, AFAIK, they aren't doing in-house drivers, nor is PowerVR, so I'm going to keep my distance, after GMA500, until one of those two things happens.

I thought everyone new intel was using the 545. we discussed in another topic not that long ago. Intel going to 600+mgz surprised me I was thinking 400mgz. Well its the same core apple uses so tegraII won't be a problem

Huh? Somebody writes worse video drivers than Intel?

And they are still in business?
Intel's video drivers aren't terrible, they just aren't good enough for even non-gaming power users. Regular old users who act slower than the computer, and just need reliability, will find them fine. Intel can and does make fine drivers, it has just taken them a long time to warm up to the idea of a good user experience w/ their IGP being a competitive advantage.

The last set of PowerVR chips had drivers made by Tungsten Graphics (now part of VMWare?). The Windows drivers have been just passable (they work, but like old ATI drivers worked). The X ones have been FUBAR. Why not Imagination, themselves? I'm not exactly sure, and have not found definite truth on the matter. Why are they so bad? I'd bet there are bureaucratic/licensing hurdles, and communication problems all around. I hadn't heard of Tunsgten Graphics before the GMA500, but they've got way too much to be proud about to half-ass a couple drivers, without there being a rest of the story, IMO.

I wish they'd get it taken care of, because Imagination has excellent GPUs. Intel has as much of a NIH complex as Microsoft; do you think they'd use Imagination's tech if they could match it? :)
