Just read an article at www.vr-zone.com claiming Intel are integrating preventative measures in their new chipsets to prevent people overclocking their chips. Apparently it automatically underclocks the chip if it detects abnormal speeds. Doesnt really affect me, just a point of interest really, if Intel want to create more market for AMD who am I to complain? :)

I read something that quoted them by saying "we are always patenting things when we invent them, even if we have no intention of ever using them"

truth is, they have no plans to do so.

not to mention athlon64

anyways, i dunt think intel is stupid enough to do anything like that
plus, ithink it has to be implemented with hte board as well? (i dunno where the post went, nor waht it was called, so i cant look back at teh diagram they had)

which means if intel boards choose to implement it...i guess SiS, here they come haha (although they really need better ocing boards...so maybe its AMD here they come lol)

Only applies to Intel motherboards - if your running a 3rd party mobo the point is mute. Keep your Asus and OC away!

REPOST. Jeez the AMD fanboys will get excited over anything. This is only a patent. It is not in any chips now, and there are no chips in the pipeline that are going to have this at this point. Lets wait until something happens before we get our underware in a wad.

Intel has had the chance to implement anti-OC measures for the last 4 years now. Not hard on their part to do it. The so-called patent was filed in 1999 and was just recently issued.

This is nothing to worry about. We overclockers are the niche market that Intel releases their newest products for, so they wouldn't want to make us very angry since their price margin is a lot higher with the OC community.
