Looks like Intel is planning to launch 65w TDP energy-saving quad cores under the Core 2 Quad Qxxxxe series:

Wouldn't EE Xeon's be more useful for server racks... in which case they can just use L series Xeon's with 50w TDP.

Is it normal to release a low-power rehash now that the new generation is out? (Nehalem/i7) Seems a bit silly that any company would spend a million dollars and not get the new product.

Yes. It is even better move these days with the focus on "performance per watt". Why not release a older model with the same processing power while only using 2/3 the power. It gives the consumer a great choice to either get a lower-power option for existing hardware, or get the lastest and greatest using a little more power (probably).

any news on how they are more energy efficient? are they using different materials? just binning and undervolting?
