Intel to demo fanless, cool 5GHz chip

It was posted and rumored to be only the speed the alu is running...not the overall chip and the alu I guess counts for like 5 percent of cpu activity...so don't get to excited...rumor also has it the p3 they demoed was already doing 6ghz with the alu portion...

The Pentium 4 has a double pumped ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) architecture. A 2.2GHz Northwood has two ALUs, each one runs at 2.2GHz. Therefore ---> 4.4GHz.

3mb L3 cache?? MAn, looks VERY VERY promising!

Err, that's probably just 3mb of SDRAM slapped on the northbridge or somewhere outside the CPU core. The newest HDDs have 8mb of that stuff.

No, it's 3MB of on-die L3 cache. Read the specs of Intel's presentation.
